Ruth Eisemann-Schier is a convicted kidnapper who gained notoriety in 1968 for being the first woman in the United States to appear on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. She and her accomplice, Gary Steven Krist, kidnapped Barbara Jane Mackle, a young college student, and held her for ransom in a specially constructed underground bunker in Georgia.

The case drew widespread media attention and sparked a nationwide manhunt for Eisemann-Schier and Krist. Mackle was eventually found alive and unharmed after being buried alive for 83 hours, thanks to a successful rescue operation.

Eisemann-Schier and Krist were captured in Florida, and both were convicted of kidnapping and sentenced to prison. Eisemann-Schier was released from prison in 1971 and deported to Honduras, her country of origin.
